Blindspace is a patented Swedish innovation built around a precision engineered hinged design. Founded in 2016 at the historic Nääs Fabriker cotton mill, the company specialises in creating seamless, energy efficient architectural pockets that allow blinds and curtain tracks to be fully recessed. Today, Blindspace is relied upon by architects, designers and homeowners seeking a consistent, minimalist finish and complete concealment in any window configuration.

Blindspace is not simply a finishing detail. It is a structural component of designing shading properly, which is why it fits so naturally into WindowTreat’s S.H.A.D.E. framework.

How Blindspace Supports the S.H.A.D.E. Framework

Blindspace strengthens every pillar of the S.H.A.D.E. principle, turning good shading into exceptional shading.

S – Shading Deserves to Be Designed

Blindspace allows shading to be designed in from day one. Instead of retrofitting visible headboxes or compromising the architecture, Blindspace creates a dedicated, engineered pocket for the blind. This ensures the shading system performs exactly as intended and remains invisible when not in use.

H – Human Centred Design

A concealed blind improves comfort and wellbeing. It removes visual clutter, reduces glare when deployed, and preserves the purity of the space when retracted. The result is a calmer, more balanced environment that supports how people actually live.

A – Architectural Intent

Blindspace protects the architect’s vision. The patented hinged cover creates a crisp, minimal detail that blends seamlessly into the building fabric. No visible boxes. No compromises. Just clean lines and uninterrupted architecture.

D – Direct the Light

By recessing the blind closer to the glazing line, Blindspace improves light control, reduces light gaps, and enhances the performance of the shading system. This ensures daylight behaves the way the design intended, not the way the building forces it to.

E – Environmental Performance

A well concealed blind sits within a defined pocket, reducing air movement around the fabric and improving thermal performance. This supports heat retention in winter and solar control in summer, contributing to a more energy efficient home.

Blindspace is not an accessory. It is a performance detail that elevates the entire shading strategy.

What Drives the Cost of Blindspace

1. Patented Engineering and Construction

Blindspace boxes are precision engineered from high grade aluminium with a unique hinged cover that allows easy access while maintaining a clean, uninterrupted ceiling or wall line. This patented mechanism is the reason Blindspace delivers such a refined finish. It is also why it costs more than improvised or site built alternatives.

2. Designed for All Electric Blind Systems

During the design stage, we specify the correct Blindspace box size for your chosen electric blind solution. Each box is sized to accommodate the motor, the fabric roll, the brackets, and the access requirements. This ensures the blind disappears completely when retracted and operates without friction or noise.

3. Material Quality and Minimalist Aesthetics

Blindspace boxes are manufactured to tight tolerances, creating a crisp, architectural detail that blends into the building fabric. The result is a minimalist hero that elevates the entire room. This level of precision requires specialist manufacturing and contributes to the overall cost.

4. Pricing Structure

The RRP for Blindspace starts from over £250 per linear metre including VAT for a standard size box. Delivery costs apply, and prices increase with larger box sizes required for bigger blinds or more complex systems. Additional components such as junction boxes and Blindspace blind brackets ensure a neat, secure, and fully concealed installation.

5. The Value of True Minimalism

Blindspace is an investment in architectural purity. When the blind disappears completely, the room feels calmer, cleaner, and more intentional. The engineering behind that simplicity is what you are paying for.

Ways to Reduce Cost

There are cost saving options for projects where full Blindspace integration is not essential.

Same Sized Voids

Creating a consistent sized void during construction can reduce the need for larger Blindspace boxes. This requires early coordination but can be effective.

Architect Designed Alternatives

Some architects design their own recesses or finishing details. These can work well, but they lack the patented hinged cover that makes Blindspace so practical and so beautifully finished.

Blindspace remains the gold standard for a reason. The engineering, the access, and the clean lines are difficult to replicate.

An Investment in Seamless Design

Blindspace is more than a product. It is a design philosophy. It allows electric blinds and curtain tracks to disappear completely, leaving only the architecture and the view. For clients who value minimalism, it is one of the most impactful upgrades available.
