Approach to Bedroom Blackout Blind

Proposing an Athena blind travelling the length of the bedroom to provide thermal and blackout as required. The concept is to minimise visual clutter distracting from the glazing in the vaulted system. The unit on the wall may need to be lowered. The Athena can be powder coated from the standard white to a RAL Classic colour to match the paintwork.

Hercules XL Blindspace Alternative

During the 1st fix stage concealment can be planned in. However, if the upstands are completed and you are prepared to bring back your builders then it may still be achievable.

A minimalist London apartment featuring a recessed roof light with concealed blind hardware. The skylight spans 4 m and is integrated into a sharp, angular ceiling design. No visible blind components are present, showcasing a seamless architectural finish.
Custom Blindspace Boxes with patented hinged covers help you get the seemless look you desire.

Firstly, your builders need to understand the space required within the lantern’s upstand to fully conceal a Hercules XL. At less than 4m wide and 4.5m long the the 125mm x 125mm headbox with the standard 70mm hem bar can be used. To conceal this we need a custom Blindspace Box C155 x 250SS. Then the side boxes require a depth of 80mm and the hem bar requires 100mm boxes so that the gap runs around the perimeter and the fabric disappears the other side.

Working Out The Quantity

Lantern 1

  • C155 x 250SS = 2790mm + 80mm +80mm + 50mm (tolerance to cut on site) = 3000mm
  • C155 x 80SS = 4320mm + 50mm tolerances x 2no = 4370mm + 4370mm
  • C155 x 100SS = 2790mm + 80mm +80mm + 50mm (tolerance to cut on site) = 3000mm

Lantern 2

  • C155 x 250SS = 1950mm + 80mm + 80mm + 50mm (tolerance) = 2160mm
  • C155 x 80SS = 3950mm +50mm tolerance x 2no = 4000mm + 4000mm
  • C155 x 100SS = 1950mm + 80mm + 80mm + 50mm (tolerance) = 2160mm
